ASHA Board Fails to Produce Excellent Mission Statement

In the last post we found the ASHA Board of Directors floundered in publishing the mission statement for our organization. Board members are confused about the topic, and fail to take a scholarly approach. How can they guide the Association without authoritative mission statement? How can the Board set operational priorities for program activities and budget allocations? How does it prevent mission creep? How can it foster proper personnel decisions for leadership excellence? How can it define a forward-thinking vision for the profession.

Clearly “fostering excellence in professional practice” is at the heart of the profession.
