7. Authority for ASHA Curriculum Development

When we study ASHA Bylaws we find a hierarchy of authority governing curriculum processes:

Members —>
Board of Directors —>
Chief Executive Officer —>
ASHA Employees

The majority of members work in schools and pay the bills in large measure. History teaches school SLPs have little or no significant influence on curriculum development as carried out in the academic programs. Processes internal to ASHA run curriculum. Swallowing advances is the best example.

The Vice President for Speech-Language Pathology Practice has the special responsibility of tracking and recommending changes in practices.
