3. RTI Success

An article in Rome News-Tribune (Georgia) by Daniel Bell
highlights an award-winning RTI program at the Elm Street Elementary School for help given to struggling students. The award was given after presentations made to a visiting team representing Georgia Educators.

The team made evaluations in 12 areas. “Some of those areas included best design instruction for the individual student; maximizing use of personnel with an innovative schedule throughout the school day; outstanding problem solving process; and identification of students needing special instruction.”

Teachers were highly motivated to do whatever they had to do to make the program work.

“We have created a fluid and workable model for others to follow, but ultimately it’s not about meetings and paperwork, it’s about the kids.”
